Regular inspection with review against checklists will be part of all management systems to a greater or lesser degree. All management and staff will conduct and/or require such inspections and they will be made internally by section and department; they may also be made between and across sections and departments.

The validity and purpose of these inspections needs review to ensure that they do not degenerate into complacent habit. The use and efficiency of such inspections will be a subject of audit of any organisation.
